The AOL Internet Service Provider and its customers are prime targets for
unsolicited email (spam), and because of this, they have become quite
sensitive to it. In the past few weeks, the company that hosts the ASL
mailing list and the ASL Forums has received complaints from AOL and its
customers to the effect that unsolicited emails are being sent from the
mailing list and/or the forums.

The hosting company and I have reviewed the services provided by
ASL-Forums.net and the email logs. We've concluded that no unsolicited
emails have been sent from the ASL-Forums.net domain. Unfortunately, some at
AOL believe that the postings of a mailing list are equivalent to
unsolicited email. These emails must stop, or AOL will block all traffic
from the hosting company.

Because of this, and because of the difficulties we've had with AOL
accounts in the past, the only option is to stop sending emails to AOL
accounts.

This means we will no longer accept members registered with an AOL account.
In addition, all current subscriptions with AOL accounts will be cancelled
and deleted.

AOL members who wish to continue receiving emails from the ASL Mailing List
or the ASL Forums will have to get a new email account. There are several
free email services available. Here are the two most popular:

http://www.hotmail.com
http://mail.yahoo.com

Nat and I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. It
wasn't our first choice to do this, but it is the ONLY choice. Just keep
a warm fuzzy thought for that AOLer out there that complained....
