[ASLML] AOO Status

Yeah, this idea could be a part of the new business model I was referring to
a day or two ago. I mean, why are the modules packaged the way they are,
with certain nationalities and certain boards and certain rules in each?
Because it was done that way 20 or 30 years ago is irrelevant. It really
doesn't matter, what matters is, does it make business sense to do it that
way now?

But IMHO this also has to be integrated with a marketing approach: how to
sell best over the net, how to keep current ASLers engaged and how to
attract (some) newbies. I think the mechanisms are there, what with
ConSimWorld, VASL, this list, niche advertising (as for the Starter pack in
WWII mag),... Heck, sell scenarios digitally, get rid of all the shipping
and printing costs. Same could be done for the Journals; after all, what we
want is not so much the physical paper as the information in them. Same
goes for the ASLRB, although I appreciate the copyright concerns. Why not
sell the right to get ASLRB updates over the net? Just a bunch of ideas to
try to stimulate some thinking.

Personally, I had pretty much given up on ASL until I found a thriving ASL
community via the web. Now I can play as much as I ever did. Like the
music inducstry, though, the wargame business needs to find its way in the
modern world.
