G'day
Managed to play a cool game of ASL on friday night (well isn't all ASL cool
- but that's another story). Anyway I was playing the SS in a fairly
recent CH Bulge offering called "Ligneuville Halt". It features 8 SS
squads backed by 2 Panthers, a single Mk IV and a bunch of Trucks and Half
Tracks having to cross 2 1/2 boards lengthways in 5 1/2 turns and exit 16
EVP. To stop them are 5 US elite (667) squad equivalents and 2 Shermans
and a M10. One of the tanks/TD can set up HIP. All in all the scenario is
fairly meat and potatoes combined arms stuff, which is more than OK by me.
So what's so special to make this worthy of an AAR. Well here it is
Turn 1 German
Mk IV malfs main armament
Panther 1 malfs main armament
Turn 1 US
Mk IV disables main armament
Turn 2 German
German LMG mafs
Mk IV withdraws
Turn 2 US
Panther 2 malfs main armament
Sherman 76 hits front of Panther 1 - Bounce
Turn 3 German
Panther 2 repairs main armament
Panther 2 shoots at HD Sherman 76 - hull hit no effect
Panther 1 stalls, loses 12 MP (rolled a 12 then another 12)
SdKfz 251/10 moves 2 hexes from no revealed M10. Malfs Main armament
bounding firing
Turn 3 US
M10 malfs main armament
Sherman 76 hits front of Panther 1 - Bounce
Panther 2 shoots at HD Sherman 76 - hull hit no effect
Turn 4 German
M10 repairs main armement
Panther 2 shoots at HD Sherman 76 - hull hit no effect
Panther 2 malfs BMG
Sherman 76 hits front of Panther 1 - Bounce
Truck with H/S runs gauntlet and exits
Sdkfz 251/10 (with SS H/S passengers) is destroyed by M10
Turn 4 US
M10 malfs main armament
Sherman 76 hits front of Panther 1 - Bounce
Panther 2 shoots at HD Sherman 76 - hull hit no effect
Turn 5 German
US infantry (1 squad with a Baz and in another location another squad with
MMG) finally break due to German fire (till then only US losses had been a
H/S taken out in CC - This H/S had previously survived a 3 MC and 3 x
24fp+3 shots unscathed)
Sherman 76 hits front of Panther 1 - Bounce
Germans have a squad KIA'ed from a 2-1 from the Sherman 76
Panther 1 moves towards exit . Finished turn 3 hexes from exit, in motion
Turn 5 US
US rally both squads
Germans rally broken squad - 12
Sherman 75 moves adjacent to Panther 1. Panther 1 makes motion attempt to
bring front armour towards Sherman
HIP US squad, with 8-1 and baz revealed and moves behind Panther 1
Panther 2 shoots at HD Sherman 76 - turret hit destroyed crew survives
(only tank v tank kill of whole game)
German HMG malfs
Sherman 75 bounding fires at Panther 1 Miss
Baz AFPh fires at Panther 1 Miss
Turn 6 German
German HMG repairs
German Inf prep and break other Baz squad and MMG squad (again)
Truck with squad exits along road. US 8-1 and 667 (with out using Baz)
fire at adjacent truck as it passes. Knocks it out and kills squad
2 x Trucks (no passengers) runs road and exit
Sdkfz 251/1 (with 1 squad passengers) moves to exit through residual
(placed by 8-1/667). Crew are stunned with a 12 after NMC (this is three
hexes from edge). Too much movement spent and passengers can't get off
Panther 1 moves into Sherman 75's hex. Baz fires and is X'ed out (12)
Panther moves 1 hex (2 MP spent in Brush hex) away from Sherman 75 (TCA
towards Sherman)
Sherman fires and hits turret - Dud (12) round
Sherman IF's at same location (on second MP). Malfs main armament
Panther 1 exits
Panther 2 exits. Needs to ESB to have necessary MP to exit due to
wrecks/stunned vehicles on road - rolls 12 ----------- What else would it
be :-)
Germans exit
1 Panther sans MA - 7EVP
3 Trucks - 3x 1EVP
1 H/S - 1EVP
12's
German
Panther 1 - Malfed MA
Stall and loss of MP (2x12)
Panther 2 - Malfed MA Repaired
Malfed BMG
Mk IV - Malfed MA Disabled
German LMG Malfed
German HMG Malfed Repaired
1 x ESB attempt
1 German squad rally
1 x dud
US
Sherman 75 - Malfed MA
M10 Malfed MA Repaired Malfed again
Baz 45 X'ed
2 x duds
Snakes (only 2)
1 during wind change - no effect
1 on a PTC - no effect
God sometimes this game can be so frustrating. Because or dice were
collectively so crap, it was a relatively tight game
But still >..........................................
Stay Safe
Yours in ASL
