[ASLML] Chruchill Bridgelayer question

Hi,

A small question that came up ina scenario yesterday regarding
British Vehicle note 36, Valentine & Chruchill Bridgelayer.

According to the note a turret hit vs. a Bridgelayer that is
"carrying" it bridge is treated as a bridge hit instead.

So the questions that came up was, when the Bridgelayer is
spending its 8 "Delay" MP when it attempts to place the
Bridge (after it made the DR for poss. bridge mech. failure)
if it is fired upon on those 8 "Delay" MPs and it is a turret
hit, is that still a bridge hit ?, or would that be a normal
turret hit ?

In other words, when the "Delay" MPs are being spent for
placement of the bridge, is the Bridgelayer still considering
"carrying" the bridge ?

We played it as if it was still Carrying the bridge (and effectivly
a turret hit in that case has no effect) and I'm interested
how others would play it.
