[ASLML] Couple of AAR's

Guys,

Played J83 Bloody Nose last night. Looks like a pretty good scenario, but I
wouldn't know as I took a pretty good shelacking as the Axis.

Bud Garding was my opponent and was looking for revenge for a rout I put on
him a couple of weeks ago.

Bloody nose is from the new Journal, and features combined German and
Romanian troops attacking across a RR line to take 11 multihex buildings.
The Axis controls two of those 11 at the beginning. They are complimented
by a PzIVF1 and 4 Pz38t's. Opposing them are 15 Russian 447's and a couple
of 45L AT guns. The Germans also have two 81mm mortars.

After we got started, I realized the mistake I made. The Romanians and the
tanks have the option to enter on/after T1 or set-up on board. I set the
Romanians up on board and left the tanks off to come in for support where
needed. I quickly realized those tanks need to set-up on board, right up
front. I suddenly desperately missed the 40 mg/fp factors and the 4 sd6 and
one s8. Got them on on turn two and did some damage, but by then my troops
were being chopped to ribbons.

Germans on my right, and Romanians on my left, got three smoke rounds down
on turn 1 with the Mortars and quickly moved the German 467's around the
right corner of the railroad on board 49. My first experience with bd 49.
Tough board. Got to the lumber yard and prepared to get into my first
Multi-Hex building. Using a round of mortar smoke, the Romanians began
their Assault on the left by moving out into the open railroad using assault
move, and looked good as they advanced into the woods on the other side.
Really a good looking line.

Bud busted one mortar with a CH from a 45L and took him out of the game. My
mmg/hmg deathstar in the middle gacked the medium and was doing no damage
what-so-ever. I got into a CC in the middle with two Romanians (concealed)
and one Russian, got the ambush, and gacked the roll. That hurt. Bud
quickly moved up a couple of squads, and by the time I won the melee, they
were staring down 16fp and quickly broke.

Bud also received an 80mm OBA module and got it into my Romanian occupied
woods on Axis turn 2 DF with devastating effect, and the Romanian army
quickly wilted. I had brought the tanks on in my half turn, and got a
couple of breaks with mg's, but one of the two tanks I sent to support the
Romanians got caught in the woods in bypass and was quickly flipped over by
OBA in Russian Prep.

It was amazing how much damage we had done in 2 turns. I had no buildings.
2 German squads and 3 Romanian squads out of an original 20 were all I had
left in good order at the beginning of turn 3, and with a poor rally phase,
and the Russians beginning to look for ways to surround my brokies, I gave
up, and surrendered.

I would like to play it again, but I would do things way different. I
totally misplayed my tanks, and paid for it.

We had some more time so we busted out the little tank scenario from the MMP
website: W1 Traverse Right...Fire!

Play this. Play it to have a good time. Play it to learn AFV's. Play it
to fill time. We played it twice. And we both could have played it all
night. Not much to put in an AAR for W1, but we loved this game.

Thanks for reading.
