I have played this twice with the Germans and have tried this both times and failed miserably.
I tried doubling up the Goliaths on the closer bridge (0/4...closest missed by 1), and then DT'd
an MMCDC, SMC over to the further bridge to try to set the DC. Problem was that when the Russian
sees his, he should pretty much charge the bridge with the ISU's on T1 IMO.
My thinking at this point was that it might make more sense to hold the Goliaths until some Russians
are on the bridge so at least you can impact something if the Goliath doesn't work. I agree, dropping
both bridges is worth trying for, and you can move the HJ HS with the Psk to cover the bridges and
provide support. But i think you will need some good dice to get that DC placed. And to use a Goliath
on the far bridge it will be T2 at the earliest, at which point, as the Russian, I would already have an
ISU on or across the bridge.
Great game though! Had one no decision, and one game where a Russian MMC moved into 2FP resid
and 2x1FP FL and passed his MC (but became encircled)...then advanced into the victory area for 4MF
to win.

The only thing that I would add is that I think that it should be possible
to blow the other bridge if you can get enough infantry smoke from the
838's. The odds are against you, but I should have given it a try. If that
bridge goes down everything on the other side of the canal is irrelevant. I
would probably combine the 338's next time, just to get the smoke exponent.
