Listers,

It is great when a question generates
the kind of thoughtful responses that
clearly lead to readers 'learning' something
new!

I'm now quite clear on this, and in fact,
many other aspects of resid fire.

Finally, a tip/warning: Peter Rogneholt agreed
with me in another discussion that, with regard to
this topic, something very often misplayed is the
following: 838 with DC runs up adj to target,
miraculously survives all enemy shots, and
in heart-pounding exhiliration, the DC is
placed without then having the 838 suffer
a subsequent residual attack in that very hex!

Happens all the time. Just a reminder to watch out
for it (as I SUFFERED from it recently, when two DCs
got thrown on my Russians in DASL8 The Schoolhouse,
from Germans who should have had a tougher time...)

Again, thanks to all!
Beseler
