I agree with Brian, my understanding is smoke grenade placement is not
affected by the breaking of a unit in the act of placement.

Further, if a unit enters a Location and survives the RFP, then subsequently
announces a smoke placement attempt, I understand it is not attacked again by
the RFP as normally it would not become more vulnerable in the act of
placement. (exception would be e.g. lone squad declares AM, enters building
location for 2 MF, then declares smoke placement in adjacent hex for a
further 2 MF, thereby no longer qualifying for AM and being potentially more
vulnerable to RFP)
