I believe that the last sentence of B9.324 would cover this situation. "A
hidden unit ... must be placed (concealed) onboard ... but may do so at any
time -- even at the moment an enemy unit moves adjacent and want to claim
WA." [2nd Ed, page B9]
I take that as a trump by the Hidden unit.

Mandatory WA would not apply for the British unit in this instance. Even
though the British unit must claim the WA "as soon as possible", in this
example it is not possible; the German squad has WA.
That's my understanding.
