can someone tell me the advantage of using Teamspeak over Yahoo Messengers Chat program?

i used Yahoo Messenger, which is FREE too, this past Friday for the first time and had a great time playing VASL.  It was the first time for me to use any type of chat program with VASL.   

the reason for the question above, is that it seems to me that Teamspeak is down or offline or just doesn't work all the time.  i have never had a problem with Yahoo Messenger.
