Yes, and yes.

It was my first game ever, against the 800 pound Canadian ASL Gorilla that
is Adrian Earle. He beat me to a bloody pulp in short order, even though he
was telling me his exact strategy and pointing out my really stupid newbie
mistakes (the killer stacks, etc).

I really enjoyed the game, but boy did it demonstrate the power of a good
player.
