Hi,

      You could have kept your HT in the same position by using
up its MPs in the same hex. This of course would allow your opponent
to fire at it. Which he also could have done in Defensive Fire
anyway.
     But It seems that A.2 would apply unless you want to go
back and allow your opponent to fire. Not sure you really need
to though since he could have in Defensive Fire anyway. The only
differance I can see is if the HTs target facing or non-stopped/stopped
status would have changed his TH/ kill potential.
