Me neither - I've also never subscribed to a magazine about cars to hear
about the writers other hobbies or rows between the editor and the
publisher.

Yep - if you want to have flame wars etc. there are plenty of places that
will oblige ... alt.flame for example. You may get bored, others may
actually join in and make it more interesting by talking in fresh ways about
the hobby because you aren't hassling them ... more to the point other get
bored of the very things you find interesting but they don't get the choice
to go to another place for their information.

Nope, actually only re-subscribed in the last few days 'cos I've got a
working PC again - I never whined or complained about the way the list was
run, I am simply agreeing (as every individual has a right to ... or
similarly to disagree) with the moderation.
I have known too many people leave the list after getting "bored to tears"
with the spam, the flame wars, the clique in jokes and personal chats rather
then the information and, indeed, discussions about the purpose of the list
... ASL.
If you want a list on which ASLers chat then you could start one (according
to you it will be very popular), if you want to chat about ASL then I say
keep the ASL list for that.
