I dispute the "many people" part. There was never any indication that the 
ASLML every suffered any kind of drop in population. Folks selected 
different ways to keep up with the list (i.e., the web interface). IOW, 
most unsubscribers did so due to volume not flamewars or OT posts. Those 
folks made the move to the interface. I doubt this new list will be any 
different.

Most of those that actually dropped the ASLML did so due to having 
embarrassed themselves or being unable to handle folks disagreeing with 
them. IOW, only wimps need moderators. Grownups can handle life.
