SOP for internet e-mail.  Since the path from sender to recipient (via the
mail list server) is *always* random, sometimes a reply to a message, if
composed quickly enough, will get to a destination before the original
message.  In extreme cases the disparity can be up to 24 hours.  It's just
part of Electronic Life.
