Hi, Peter.

I think the first confusion is that *all* SW are subject to Malfunction,
regardless of whether they have a B# or an X#, per A9.7. The term Disabled
does not apply to SW, only to vehicular armament.

Both B# and X# are considered Breakdown Numbers. The only difference
between the two is that a B# Malfunction can be repaired, and an X#
Malfunction cannot be repaired. (See the Index entries for B# and X#, as
well as A9.7, which says that a SW with an X# Malfunctions "permanently".)

So as I see it, a Malfunction is a Malfunction, no matter how it was caused.
If the SW has a B#, you may attempt to Repair it. If it has an X#, you
may not Repair it. (The reference in D6.24 to eliminating an X# SW rather
than Malfunctioning it is redundant and totally unnecessary, IMO. If it is
Malfunctioned, the only question that remains is whether or not it can be
Repaired...)

IMO, there is no problem with A9.74... :-)
