Hi Kenneth!
A4.44...recovery may only be attempted by an unpinned, good order, non-bypassing unit
(covers recovery both during the RPh and MPh). So, your broken HS cannot attempt to
recover the LMG.
Earlier in A4.44..."Infantry may claim possession...as their sole action during that RPh." So the
SMC cannot recover the LMG and then try to rally the HS.
And last, as you note, recovery occurs before rally per the ASOP, so you cannot rally the HS
and then have the now good order HS recover the LMG.
Hope this has helped! Be well.

Situation:
A Good Order leader is stacked with a broken HS with a LMG.
May the leader both attempt to Recover the LMG and thereafter Rally the HS?
Or is this treated as two "actions".
In the ASOP intro to the Rally Phase, it says "Recovery is not an action by a broken unit".
Does that only mean that in the example above, if the LMG had been unpossessed, the HS could Recover it and then still be Rallied by
the leader?
Cheers
Kenneth
